- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in health or human service field preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one year lived experience preferred or one year experience working in mental health or human services setting.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge/experience of coping skills, self-help techniques, and mental health services delivery system.
- Interpersonal skills to engage individuals verbally.
- Ability to assertively advocate for individuals and negotiate with service providers.
- Ability to teach skills to individuals, small groups and to facilitate group meetings.
- Ability to serve as role model, teach and support individuals.
- The ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing 40 lbs.
- Ability to legally operate a vehicle in NY State.
III. Major Functions
The Assistant Wellness Supervisor supports the daily operation of the Wellness Center and assists in the supervision of staff, volunteers, and members. This position helps ensure that programs run smoothly, that services reflect OMH and agency standards, and that a welcoming, recovery-oriented environment is maintained for all participants.
A. Administrative & Supervisory Support
- Assist the Wellness Supervisor with the daily management of Wellness Center operations.
- Provide leadership and support to program staff and volunteers; assist with orientation and ongoing supervision.
- Help coordinate work schedules and ensure appropriate coverage for activities and member support.
- Maintain program records, attendance logs, and statistical data in accordance with agency and OMH requirements.
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of staff meetings and trainings.
- Participate in program audits, compliance reviews, and follow-up actions as assigned.
- Act as designee in the absence of the Wellness Supervisor.
- Support the planning, coordination, and facilitation of Wellness Center activities, groups, and special events.
- Encourage member participation, leadership, and peer involvement in program planning.
- Provide direct support to members, assisting with wellness goals, recovery planning, and referrals as needed.
- Assist in crisis intervention and ensure that emergency procedures are followed.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment consistent with recovery principles.
- Coordinate communication with community providers and help connect members to external supports.
- Ensure program documentation and service records are complete, accurate, and timely.
- Support adherence to OMH guidance, agency policies, and quality improvement standards.
- Assist in monitoring the safety and maintenance of the Wellness Center environment.
- Participate in data collection and reporting to support program evaluation and outcomes.
- Support implementation of emergency preparedness and safety procedures.
- Represent the Wellness Center at community events and outreach activities as directed.
- Assist in developing partnerships and maintaining positive relationships with community agencies.
- Promote the Wellness Center and agency mission through education and advocacy efforts.
- Participate in agency meetings, trainings, and committees as assigned.
- Uphold the mission, values, and policies of Catholic Charities.
- Perform other job-related duties as directed by the Wellness Supervisor or Wellness Manager.
